APC Overnight appoints Syed Ziaullah as new CEO
11th January 2012

Wolverhampton, UK, 11 January 2012 – Syed Ziaullah has been named Chief Executive Officer of APC Overnight following the recent retirement of MD Ivor Skinner. Ziaullah has been the company’s Operations Director since January 2008 and will lead a recently restructured senior management team that will ensure APC continues its terrific growth during the current economic challenges.
APC turned over £58 million in the period 2010-2011 with pre-tax profits of £3.4 million. It currently delivers 1.4 million parcels a month throughout the UK through its 120 strong network of local depots. APC’s premium services and reliability have been instrumental in helping hundreds of customers grow their businesses. The “Handled with Care” services in particular have helped wine, beer and fine food retailers extend their reach across the UK.
“We have had fantastic success in growing the company over the past three years and we are on track to break all records in 2012. I am looking forward to helping APC build on this strong foundation. It is a tough market, but we are proving to our customers that APC is the key ingredient they need to ensure the success of their own businesses. We are dedicated to providing the best possible service for all our customers throughout the UK and will not falter in achieving our goal,” said Ziaullah.
Ziaullah has a wealth of hands-on experience inside and outside of APC. As APC Operations Director, he was responsible for driving operational improvements across the organisation, which included the implementation of new systems as well as the modernisation of the trunking fleet with environmentally friendlier trucks, trailers and vans.
He will lead the project team for APC’s new purpose-built £14 million, 128,000 ft2 National Hub at Kingswood Lake, Cannock, Staffordshire. The new hub will provide more than double the capacity of the current site near Wolverhampton and will benefit from state-of-the art material handling systems, including a cross-belt sorter. APC will also expand its hub-based trunking fleet with more bespoke double-decker trailers.
For nearly 30 years, Ziaullah has run his own courier company, County Couriers Ltd trading as Action Express in Northampton, which is an active member of the APC network. Action Express was one of the original 53 shareholder depots that were involved in the formation of APC in 1994.
